About Drew
Drew Lakatos is an engineer and entrepreneur known for applying advanced safety technology, initially inspired by car airbags, to create life-saving wearable devices. After earning his engineering degree from Villanova University, he focused his career on designing products that prevent devastating human injuries. Drew is the founder and former CEO of ActiveProtective, a pioneering company that invented a smart garment to protect people from serious falls. Their flagship product, the Tango Belt, is a hip-worn device that uses sensors to detect a fall in progress and instantly deploy air cushions around the hips before the person hits the ground. This technology was designed specifically to prevent hip fractures in the elderly, one of the most common and damaging injuries older adults face. The device has since made medical history by demonstrating a 91% reduction in fall-induced hip fractures during studies and has received the prestigious FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. Following the commercialization of his founding vision, Drew has continued to lead growth and innovation in technology companies. His recent work includes serving as the Vice President of Sales at ROAR for Good and holding Chief Strategy Officer positions at firms like FLX Solutions, which focuses on advanced robotic technology. Drew’s mission remains constant: to use smart engineering to solve complex real-world safety and business challenges.
