Craig Venter

J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., a pioneering genomic scientist, is Founder, Chairman, and President of the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI), a 400 person not-for-profit, research organization dedicated to human, microbial, plant, synthetic, and environmental genomic and policy research. He is also Founder and President of Synthetic Genomics Inc., a privately-held company dedicated to developing and commercializing genomic-driven solutions to address issues starting with energy and the environment, and is co-founder of Celera Genomics and the Institute for Genomic Research. He was listed on Time magazine's 2007 and 2008 Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world. In 2010, the British magazine New Statesman listed Craig Venter at 14th in the list of "The World's 50 Most Influential Figures 2010". He is a member of the USA Science and Engineering Festival's Advisory Board.
