L’Energie Atlas de Models: Henri Arnould, circa 1900

L’Energie Atlas de Models was published in 1900 as an educational two-volume work for young adults. The first volume is an atlas with overlays that depict the inner workings of transformers, dynamos, diesel engines, cruise ships, and other contemporary machines that were considered to be prodigious or impressive generators or users of energy. The second volume, mainly text but including quaint illustrations for children, discusses the various types of energy from electrical to sonic and beyond.
