Giles Newton PhD is a science editor and communication strategist, and the Director of Deadlift Media. He gained a BSc in Genetics and a PhD in molecular biology at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and now has more than 20 years’ experience in science publishing and communications. While at the Wellcome Trust, he was a writer, editor, and publisher and the Head of Communication Partnerships. He was the founding Editor of Mosaic, which launched in 2014, publishing long-form science stories and using Creative Commons licenses to encourage their republishing and translation around the world. Giles is a member of TEDMED’s Editorial Advisory Board.
