Stanford Medicine, comprised of Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, is leading the biomedical revolution through discoveries that result in practical improvements to human health.  As profound and far-reaching as the digital revolution, the biomedical revolution is resulting in an explosion of knowledge about life and how it works.  Breathtaking advances in imaging, genomics, bioinformatics, and stem cell medicine are offering up possibilities that were unimaginable just a few years ago. New tools that will allow us to not only heal disease, but to predict and prevent it, are finally within our reach.  This is more than just a revolution in science and health care - it’s a revolution in the human condition - and Stanford Medicine, amplified by the astounding intellectual and technological capital of Silicon Valley, is leading the charge.

At Stanford Medicine breakthroughs are being made every day.  From fueling disruptive innovation in order to solve life’s deepest mysteries, to building two new hospitals that will be models of what health care can and should be in the 21st century, we’re shaking up the science and practice of medicine to help families here, and around the world, stay healthy.

UC San Francisco is the nation's leading university exclusively focused on health. Now celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding as a medical college, UCSF is driven by the idea that when the best research, the best education and the best patient care converge, great breakthroughs are achieved.

The birthplace of biotechnology, UCSF's faculty includes five Nobel laureates who have made seminal contributions to advancing the understanding of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, aging and stem cell research. All four UCSF professional schools  — dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy — as well as virtually all UCSF graduate programs, UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, consistently rank among the best in the nation, according to the latest surveys by US News & World Report. The graduate-level university also leads the nation in biomedical research and is the top public recipient of highly competitive research funding from the National Institutes of Health. Together, this research, education and patient care contribute to UCSF's public mission of advancing health worldwide.

A World Class Venue

We select iconic, historic and important venues reflecting the culture and heritage of each city to host the event locally and broadcast it globally.  These world-class venues provide a setting for the TEDMED stage program, for The Hive’s innovation showcase, and for partner experiences and social interactions that are such an important part of TEDMED.

The Palace of Fine Arts is an important part of San Francisco’s rich history and a symbol of the spirit that makes San Francisco “the city that knows how.“ It is the last reminder of the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition that welcomed the world back to San Francisco, and it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Bay Area residents and visitors. The Palace is truly a landmark to love.

We thank the many partners that have supported TEDMED throughout the years, and continue to support us.
