A TEDMED 2012 speaker, Ivan Oransky is Vice President and Global Editorial Director of MedPage Today. From June 2009 until June 2013, Ivan was Executive Editor of Reuters Health. Previously, he was Managing Editor of Scientific American, and Deputy Editor of The Scientist. Ivan is Vice President of the Association of Health Care Journalists, and serves on its Board of Directors. He is also the co-founder of Retraction Watch, a blog that has been called "one of the best innovations in science in recent years" by a former editor-in-chief of the British Medical Journal. Before leaving medicine to become a full-time journalist, Oransky received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University, where he was Executive Editor of The Harvard Crimson. He received his medical degree from New York University and completed an internship at Yale University. He also holds appointments as an Adjunct Professor of Journalism and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York University.
